Principals

Andrew Basham and Taylor Williams formed Spy Rock in 2008. Andrew had over a decade of experience in multifamily and mixed use acquisition and development, while Taylor had broad ranging experience in the brokerage and real estate investment banking businesses. The two met in 1996 at the University of Virginia and after reconnecting in 2008, and with common entrepreneurial goals, they partnered to form Spy Rock Real Estate Group.

Andrew Basham

Andrew focuses on entitlement and development management and oversight of the project teams on all of Spy Rock's ventures. Andrew relocated to Richmond from Falls Church in 2007 to start the Virginia Multifamily Development office for Colonial Properties Trust. From 2001-2007, Andrew was Vice President of Development and Acquisitions for The Silverwood Companies, a mixed-use, multifamily and land development firm based in Reston, VA. At Silverwood, he was responsible for the acquisition and development of over 1,000 multifamily units, including for-sale, market rate rental and LIHTC product.

Andrew holds a B.A. from The University of Virginia and is a member of The Urban Land Institute, The National Association of Homebuilders, Congress for the New Urbanism and the United States Green Building Council.

Taylor Williams

Taylor focuses on sourcing new opportunities, arranging debt and equity financing and structuring all transactions. Prior to Spy Rock, Taylor worked with Wachovia Securities in its Real Estate Investment Banking Group, where he was primarily involved in raising equity and debt capital for real estate companies. At Wachovia, his clients included REITs and private real estate development companies representing the multifamily, office, retail and self-storage sectors. Prior to his time at Wachovia, Taylor worked with Cassidy & Pinkard in its Investment Sales group where he was involved in brokering sales of office properties located in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. He was involved in transactions totaling over $1.5 billion in sale value. He began his career in New York, NY with Bessemer Trust Company in its private equity fund-of-funds group.

Taylor holds an M.B.A and a B.A. from The University of Virginia and is a member of the Massey Alliance Board at the VCU Massey Cancer Center in Richmond, VA.
